In my dusty west Texas town, Reader, we lose power every time the wind gets bad. It was out today for several hours. Since I couldn't use my computer, I started writing this email on my phone to pass the time. Power just came back on a few minutes ago, and when I drove by the grocery store (we only have one grocery in town), the parking lot was packed. I'm guessing it was mostly moms trying to figure out dinner at the last minute, as the store had been closed since this morning. Being without...

With the expert tips shared at the Music & Art Homeschool Summit, you can say a confident "YES!" to incorporating music and art, not just as extras, but as solid...

Reader, Are you intimidated by fine arts for your high school student? Most families want to include a music and art experience for their children. They know that music and art education are important in brain development and in enhancing every area of learning. But maybe you don't know where to start. You're busy trying to fit in the core subjects like English and math. Or you feel you're "not musical or artistic" enough to teach these specialized subjects. Or you're not sure how you'll...

Reader, Did you know Facebook is taking away the option to save your live videos on the platform? Facebook officially announced it on February 19. Videos gone From now on, EVERY Facebook live will be forcibly deleted within 30 days. This means huge changes for Olive Tree Tutorials where our Facebook presence is concerned. I'm no longer going to rely on Facebook to serve you my evergreen content, like my videos about the crisis in modern education. Instead, I'll focus on consistently serving...

I put together the Fresh Fire Facebook Challenge for you, Reader, because homeschooling isn't just about the students. It's about the parents (mostly moms) who teach them. It's an axiom in education that you can only effectively teach a subject once you know it thoroughly yourself. But what if no one ever gave you a biblical foundation for learning when you were in school? Can you still impart it to your child? Attaining a biblical education isn't a matter of teaching facts and dates and...
